FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How well do Gimme Goodies Tamales freeze?
They freeze very well and are delicious after they’re heated up! We often freeze tamales after week make them so that we can enjoy them a few at a time. No worries though. We will never freeze our tamales before delivering them to you. They go straight from the pot, to your door.
What is the best way to heat up Gimme Goodies Tamales?
We usually just go with the microwave for ease of use. If you use a microwave, however, make sure to keep the husks on so that they don’t dry out. We have also re-heated our tamales by placing them in a bowl or glass pan with a little bit of water at the bottom; then re-heating them in the microwave. If you had the time, you could also place them in a steamer and re-heat them. The steamer is mostly unnecessary since they come to you fully cooked … but it’s an option.
Do you do custom orders?
We are always up for an experiment. We may have to charge a little more for something that we don’t have listed on the site, but we’re more than happy to listen to suggestions.
Would you give me a discount if I ordered a several dozen?
Yes, the ingredients cost us less if we buy in bulk. If we got a large order, we would pass on any bulk savings we achieved. Just give us advanced notice.
I have a hard time believing that Tamara has a Mexican heritage. Is your recipe actually authentic?
Yes, we actually do actually have a Mexican heritage. In fact, one of our great uncles owns a cattle ranch in Northern Mexico, near Juarez. My family has been making tamales for several generations.
Is it said “tamale” or “tamal” or something else?
Okay, nobody actually asks this … but they should. In Mexico, they say “un tamal” (one tamal) and “muchos tamales” (many tamales). There is no such thing as a “tamale.”
